In These Streets: Kensington Market

Kensington Market is a favorite neighborhood among visitors to Toronto and locals alike. The latter seem to be fighting a never-ending war against further “development” and chain stores moving into the area, and then those actions are criticized/trolled by other “pro-business” types for trying to hold on to some kind of magic they may have never seen or understood for themselves.

Pedestrian Sundays don’t start until next month, but right now the weather’s at a point where there’s at least one or two days a week that are nice enough for a stroll through the market, and that means for an active poster scene!

Some other Kensington Market news:

In These Streets: Crooked Beat Records (DC)

Crooked Beat Records

Last night, Kotic Couture and I took a quick trip to the District of Columbia. Some of the business laid down out there you won’t hear about for a lil while longer, but for now you can enjoy a special DC edition of In These Streets!

We hit up Crooked Beat Records in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. The store specializes in new and used vinyl, and for good reason – its outsold their CDs since 2007, now making up 99% of their total sales!

In addition to all the great records, the walls are covered in classic punk flyers and photographs. These posts are for current promotions though, and there are some great local posters in the doorway, so let’s get into it!
